Who owns this site

The Wild Pet is published by HomeLife Media, the same company that makes Cannanine. Cannanine is a pet CBD and supplement brand. It is not a sponsor we signed at arm's length and it is not an advertiser who bought space: it is the same owner. That is a material connection, and the law is not the only reason to say so plainly. It is the first thing you would want to know.

How we make money

We earn commissions from brands we review, including Cannanine. If you follow a link from a guide to a retailer and buy something, that retailer pays us a share of the sale. The price you pay is the same either way: an affiliate link costs you nothing extra, and it does not change the offer on the other end.

We also run a free email list, The Wild Pet Journal. Where a display sponsorship runs on this site it is labelled as one where it appears. What nobody can buy is an article.

How to tell a paid link from an ordinary one

Every guide that links a brand we earn from carries a line near the top, above the first paragraph, before you have met a single link. That line names the commission and names Cannanine as our sister brand.

Under the hood, every affiliate link on this site is marked in the page's own code with rel="sponsored", which is the attribute search engines read as "this link is paid", and it carries campaign parameters so we can see which guide sent the visit. You do not have to take our word for any of it: view the source of any guide and the marking is there on the link itself.

What the money does not buy

It does not buy the verdict. A product is not recommended here because of who owns it, and where a competing product has better evidence behind it, the piece says so. That applies to Cannanine like any other brand: if it is not the right answer for a problem, the guide says it is not.

It does not buy a claim, either. Every health statement on this site has to survive the same check whatever brand it flatters: a named, primary source that actually says what we say it says. Where the evidence in animals is thin, the guide says the evidence is thin rather than borrowing a human study and hoping you do not look. Nothing here is veterinary advice, and no product mentioned on this site is a substitute for seeing your vet.

What "rigorously review" means

It means we read the label and the certificate of analysis, we check the dose against what the research supports rather than against what the marketing claims, and we say what a product does not do. A brand cannot pay to enter that process and cannot pay to pass it.
